It's the only thing i miss about rochester ;-) ! I'd be there for lunch everyday, if mamasans was here.

The restuarant owner was very rude even to my little girl. We had only been there a few minutes and were so disappointed that we had placed our order. She even disturbed us when we were eating. It was terrible. The food was not worth it. It is too expensive for what you get and how it tastes. Avoid this place at all costs or you will regret it.

I can count on one hand, the things that made me miss living in Rochester. Mamasan's is a solid one. The friendly staff, fast service, and generous portions justify the the slightly high price. (Just take the rest to-go)! I reccommend the cold or fried rolls, basil noodles (with meat or seafood of your choice) or the Shrimp Tom Ka (a rich, coconut soup with a side of fluffy rice). The lovely, Thai decor and music lend a wonderful backdrop to the dining experience. Mamasan herself is usually on-site and is just a wonderful person to know. If you wish to extend the experience, she sells take-out and bottles of her sauces. This place is always crowded and for Rochester weather, that's saying something! It helps to justify the other four reasons I visit the city.

Mamasan's, although slightly on the pricey side for this area, is a great place to go for Thai cooking in WNY. When walking in the room looks weird for a Thai restaurant, with fish floating around and weird art here and there. But their dishes are spicy and they have better flavor than all the places I've been to in Buffalo, although they don't hold a candle to restaurants I've been to in San Antonio and California... Their menu is different in that you can choose any meat, seafood, or tofu they offer with any selection - different prices are offered for the meat you choose. It was a nice treat to mix and experiment with calamari, shrimp & pork. It's a nice enough place that even though we live in south buffalo, every now and then we will take the tollway and drive to Rochester JUST TO EAT HERE!
