Nice place and in the summer you can sit out on their deck and listen to some tunes!

Granddaughter Remembers

I have grown up on Italian food all of my 6 plus decades and I can honestly say that Papa Joe's is right up there with Grandma's home cooking. The food was plentiful, just like a Sunday afternoon, gathered around Grandpa's and Grandma's formal dinning room table. Grandpa use to say if you leave the table hungry, it is your own fault. I didn't leave Papa Joe's table hungry. As a matter of fact, the full portion provided enough leftovers for two more meals!!! It would have put a great big smile on Grandpa's face. Papa Joe's is now one of our favorites and we will definitely be returning for another large portion of something that we know will make us groan with culinary pleasure. Along with the great food, the service was exemplary. Our greeter and server made us feel like one of the family. Thank you for a delightful experience and thank you for stirring up fond memories of times gone by.

Great food, with great prices and serving size - a rare find!

For $11 I ordered the largest portion of lasagna I had ever seen. It tasted fantastic. They have my favorite tasting sauce in the city and I am very particular. Service is always great. The staff is very friendly and professional. They specials that they offer are quite amazing. Two people can go and eat a full meal with a glasses of wine for under $30. I have never found a better value. Order the homemade oil with garlic and spices for your bread. Most people can make three meals out of one order at this place. I really don't think that we could make the food ourselves any cheaper. We certainly could never touch the quality. Another favorite is the Cannelloni. On a side note I am not a big fan of salads but I always finish my plate here. I don't know where they get their blue cheese from or if they make it themselves but it is really good. I always get creamy and crumbly blue cheese. The only problem I can mention is that I think that we may have told too many people about the place. It used to be relatively empty when we would visit but now it's packed almost every night of the week. Agetina's has to be sorry they let the two chefs go that run the place because Agetina's is not the same. Well at least I have a new favorite and its right down the street. If you like the place, please don't tell anybody about it. ;-)

They have it right..nearly perfect.

Last night was our first visit. Decor was very nice. Waitress and staff were excellent. Portions are unbelievably large. The bread was served warmed and delicious, everyplace should do this. Salad was great, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, banana peppers, black olives, chick peas, shredded carrots, and croutons with a good tasting Italian dressing. Also it was served cold and crispy, very fresh. Not one who is particularly fond of salad I cleaned my plate. I ordered an appetizer of steamed clams for a very reasonable price. The bus staff was unbelievable, the restaurant was full, whenever I moved a dish to the side of the table it was gone. They were very mannerly and must have been trained well. I watched when customers left their tables were cleaned off and reset in a minute (I should have timed them). I ordered chicken French which was very good and plentiful with a side if linguini. The sauce was good but not the best to me. I add this because I believe that tomato sauce is very subjective. Everyone likes the taste of a different pasta sauce. I could go on about this but characters are limited here. My wife had chicken Parmesan which was fantastic along with a side of penne with a meatball. Waitress was very nice and experienced. I recommend this restaurant highly. The menu has a lot of items that I would have liked to try. I will have to go back.

Take-Out

Posted by rachet on 11/11/2007

When ordering take-out the pickup time can be anywhere from 1/2 hour to 1 1/2 hours, depending when you call. They take 5 orders per 1/2 hour.Their food is exceptional, if you are hungry call right when they open so your wait is only 1/2 hour.
